Radio is an industry that is transitioning from a single media to multimedia.
With this new level of sophistication, however, comes numerous challenges, including:
- Numerous licensing and legal issues around DRM schemes, consumer device connectivity, codecs, patent licenses, and so on
- Movement from DSP-only / simple-OS centered development to 32-bit processors and commercial operating systems
- Numerous audio and video media types
- Large quantities of media that must be stored, organized, and accessed in a way that minimizes driver distraction
- Integration with multiple file systems and different types of storage devices
Developers are quickly recognizing the need to move from proprietary operating systems or
dedicated DSP solutions to advanced OS and middleware technologies.
This is where QNX® reliability and digital media expertise is a prime fit.
